Windows Login Problems: Password, Profile or Drive Issue?
A Windows login problem is not always a forgotten password. It can be a keyboard issue, Microsoft account problem, damaged Windows profile, BitLocker prompt, corrupted system files or failing storage. The right fix depends on which layer is failing.
First, confirm whether the keyboard is entering characters correctly. Try the on-screen keyboard if appropriate. Check whether the account is local or Microsoft-linked, and whether internet access is required for sign-in or recovery.
Be careful with resets
Password and Windows reset options can affect files, apps and encryption. If important data is on the computer, do not rush into reinstalling Windows or deleting the profile.
If the login issue followed blue screens, slow performance or disk errors, storage health should be checked before software repair.
Information to prepare
Have access to recovery email or phone methods where possible. If the device belongs to a business or school, management policies may apply.
