Custom PC Cable Management: Reliability Comes Before Looks
Cable management in a custom PC is not only about appearance. Tidy routing can improve airflow, reduce fan obstruction, make future servicing easier and prevent loose power or data connections. A beautiful build that strains connectors is not a reliable build.
Check that cables do not press into fans, block front intake airflow or pull tightly on the motherboard and GPU. Power cables should be fully seated, especially for graphics cards.
Airflow and access
Good routing keeps major airflow paths clear and leaves filters accessible for cleaning. It also makes storage upgrades and troubleshooting easier later. A case packed too tightly behind the side panel can put pressure on cables.
For small form factor PCs, cable planning is even more important because there is less room for heat to escape.
After transport
If a PC was moved, recheck GPU power, SATA cables and front-panel connectors. Transport can loosen parts even when the case looks fine.
