Business PC Secure Boot System: Incorrect storage controller mode | Auckland
Pattern to record: The operating system becomes inaccessible immediately after a setting change.
Record the boot configuration
A managed business PC may depend on an approved Secure Boot policy, TPM state and recovery credentials. Record the exact warning and recent change before resetting firmware or replacing hardware. One possible explanation is that AHCI, RAID or vendor storage settings no longer match the installed driver.
Preserve recovery options
Security resets can make encrypted data inaccessible without recovery credentials. Switching modes repeatedly can confuse diagnosis but does not repair a failing drive.
Firmware and hardware checks
- Record encryption status and approved policy before changing TPM or Secure Boot settings.
- Record the original controller mode and confirm drive visibility before Windows repair.
Recovery and startup checks
If the checks support this cause, restore the matching mode or prepare the correct driver transition safely. Verification should cover authorised sign-in, restart, updates, encryption status and managed applications.
