Inkjet Printer Paper Feed System: Worn separation pad | Auckland
Pattern to record: Two or more sheets enter together.
Locate the feed stage
Compare plain paper with the specific photo or speciality media supported by the inkjet. Note whether skew begins at pickup or only under the carriage, and keep fingers clear of the moving printhead. One possible explanation is that the surface that holds back extra sheets has lost friction.
Feed-path checks
- Inspect pickup surfaces, guides and encoder-related movement using clean supported media.
- Inspect pad thickness and surface while confirming paper is not stuck together.
Before inspecting the mechanism
Keep fingers clear of powered carriage and feed mechanisms. Adding rough tape can shed debris into the mechanism.
Correct the confirmed cause
If the checks support this cause, replace the separation pad or matched feed kit. Verification should cover plain paper, photo media if supported, alignment, multi-page feed and exit.
