Keep Important Details Away From Borderless Photo Edges
Borderless printing trades precise edge placement for coverage of the sheet. If faces, text or a narrow frame sit at the edge of an image, a small enlargement can remove something important even though the printer is operating as designed.
Check the media and the composition
Confirm that your exact printer supports borderless output for the chosen paper size and type. A printer supporting one borderless photo size may not support every custom size. Use the relevant driver option rather than assuming a zero margin in the document will enable the printer feature.
Epson's guidance identifies Expansion as the control for how much the image is enlarged at the edges. It also calls for image and paper sizes to be set correctly. Locate the corresponding option in the manual for your model; its presence and range are not universal.
Compare the image's proportions with the paper. If they differ, decide deliberately between cropping, adding a border or changing the layout. Repeatedly changing the scale without deciding which content matters can hide one edge while exposing another.
Proof the edges you care about
Print one representative image on the intended stock. Examine all four sides, especially faces, captions and any thin decorative frame. Also inspect whether reducing expansion leaves a visible white edge.
Keep a little compositional space around irreplaceable details. If exact dimensions or a perfectly even frame are essential, a bordered print with planned trimming may be more suitable than borderless mode. Use a supported workflow and measure the proof before producing a set.
Record the successful paper selection and expansion choice with the image version. Do not judge only the centre colour and sharpness: the acceptance question for this task is whether the finished edge retains the content you meant to deliver.
