Laser Printer Paper Feed System: Worn exit roller | Auckland
Pattern to record: Printing completes but pages stall, wrinkle or remain partly inside.
Locate the feed stage
Record the tray and the position of the sheet’s leading edge when it stops. Pickup, separation, duplex return and fuser exit are different stages; a jam message alone does not identify which roller failed. One possible explanation is that the final roller cannot grip or release media consistently.
Feed-path checks
- Note the leading edge position, inspect sensors and rollers and compare each tray.
- Inspect exit pressure and rotation after upstream transport is confirmed.
Before inspecting the mechanism
Fuser areas can remain hot long after printing stops. Reaching into a hot fuser or cutter area is hazardous.
Correct the confirmed cause
If the checks support this cause, replace the worn roller or bushing assembly. Verification should cover single and multi-page jobs, every tray, duplex if fitted, different paper weights and exit.
