Choose Edited Photos or Unmodified Originals for a Mac Export
A cropped and corrected picture shown in Photos may be the version wanted for a report, while an editor may instead need the original capture. State the required deliverable before exporting. Keeping both under clear names is often more useful than discovering later that the wrong version was supplied.
Create separate destination folders, such as Edited for report and Original captures. Use a small sample containing an obvious edit and, if relevant, a Live Photo. An unedited ordinary photo is a weak test because both export routes may look similar.
Choose the export route by purpose
In Photos on Mac, select the items and use File, Export, Export Photos for a chosen output format and size. Inspect the available settings and export the sample. Compare its visible crop and adjustments with the version you intended to deliver.
For the files in their originally imported format, use File, Export, Export Unmodified Original. Apple documents that an original Live Photo export produces two files: a still image and a video. Keep the pair together if both components are required.
The original export also offers IPTC information as an XMP sidecar. If you use that option, preserve the sidecars with the corresponding media and confirm that the receiving workflow knows what to do with them. A sidecar is not an extra photograph.
Reconcile content instead of counting blindly
Open examples from both destination folders outside Photos. Check the edited result and verify that the original remains available for future work. Play exported video components rather than judging them by their icons.
Compare the selected items with the resulting files while accounting for Live Photo pairs and optional sidecars. A higher file count can be correct; a matching count alone cannot establish that the intended versions were exported.
Keep the Photos library until the delivery has been checked. Exporting selected media creates a deliverable, but it should not be treated as a complete replacement for a library backup containing the organisation and editing work you may still need.
