PC not turning on · Auckland
No lights, fans that stop immediately and a running PC with no picture are different symptoms. At our Burswood workshop, we assess likely power and hardware causes before recommending parts or repair options.

What we assess
A black screen alone cannot identify a failed component. Describe what the computer does, including any lights, sounds or messages.
Assessment can include the power supply, cables and related hardware. Do not open a power supply or attempt an improvised electrical test.
Brief fan movement or interrupted startup can have several causes. Tell us what happened before the fault and whether parts were recently changed.
Display output, graphics hardware, memory and other startup faults need to be distinguished. See our graphics card troubleshooting service.
A boot message or recovery screen differs from no power. Storage and boot behaviour may need investigation, with your data priorities discussed first.
Before your appointment
Note the make, model or component list, any error message, and the last time it worked. Do not repeatedly force startup just to collect evidence.
Tell us about liquid exposure, physical damage or important files. If there is a burning smell or visible damage, stop using the computer and contact us before visiting.
We inspect before recommending parts and discuss scope, cost and timing. Call or email to confirm the appointment and what equipment to bring.
Common questions
A practical starting point for PC owners in East Auckland.
No. Several faults can produce similar symptoms. Testing is needed before deciding whether a power supply, motherboard or another component needs attention.
Reinstalling Windows does not diagnose a machine with no power. Avoid resets or changes that could affect files before discussing the symptoms and data priorities.
That depends on the storage device and fault. Ask about data recovery and file transfer; recovery cannot be promised before assessment.
Normal workshop hours are 10am–5pm, by appointment. Contact us before visiting Unit 9, 28 Torrens Road, Burswood.
