Laptop Shuts Down Randomly? Look Beyond the Battery
A laptop that shuts down without warning can be hard to diagnose because the symptom may appear only under certain conditions. It might happen during video calls, gaming, charging, unplugged use, or after the laptop has been running for a while.
Battery failure is one possibility, but not the only one. Heat, dust, failing fans, charger problems, loose internal connections, storage faults and memory instability can also cause sudden shutdowns.
Notice the pattern
If the shutdown happens after the laptop gets hot, cooling should be checked. If it happens when the charger is moved, the port or charger may be involved. If it happens during file access, storage health matters. If it happens only on battery, battery condition becomes more likely.
Avoid repeatedly forcing the same crash. Each shutdown can interrupt writes to the drive and may make Windows problems worse.
Information that helps
Write down whether the laptop restarts by itself, whether there is a blue screen, and whether the charger light changes. Bring the charger for diagnosis. If the laptop contains important files, mention that before deep testing.
