Study Laptop Slow Before Exams? Prioritise Stability Over Experiments
A slow study laptop becomes a bigger problem when deadlines or exams are close. The temptation is to install speed-up tools, delete random folders or reset Windows quickly. Those steps can create new problems if the files are not backed up or the drive is failing.
Start with stability. Make sure important documents are saved in more than one place. Check whether the laptop is slow only in the browser, slow after startup, or slow when opening files. Each pattern points to a different cause.
Common causes
Low storage space, too many startup apps, limited memory, overheating, malware, failing drives and Windows update problems can all slow a laptop. A machine that freezes while opening files should be treated differently from one that only has too many browser tabs open.
If the laptop gets hot and loud during ordinary study work, cooling should be checked. If it is slow and also showing disk errors, protect the data first.
Keep changes controlled
Do not make five fixes at once. Backup, diagnose, then change one area at a time.
