Home Office Computer Reliability Checklist for Auckland Workers
A home office computer does not need to be exciting. It needs to start reliably, join meetings, open documents, print when needed and protect the files that matter. Reliability comes from several boring checks done before something fails.
Start with backups. Confirm where documents, photos, invoices or project files are stored and whether they can be opened from another device. Cloud sync is useful, but a separate backup may still be needed.
Check the basics
Storage health, available space, Windows updates, fan noise, battery condition and charger reliability all matter. If the computer is a laptop, test webcam, microphone, Wi-Fi and charging before an important meeting day.
For desktops, check dust, airflow and power protection. A desktop under a desk can collect dust quietly for years.
Plan for failure
Know how you would work if the computer failed tomorrow. Do you have account passwords, software installers, backup access and a spare device path?
