Touchscreen Not Responding? It May Be More Than a Screen Fault
A touchscreen that stops responding may still display an image perfectly. That can be confusing because the visible panel looks fine while the touch layer, cable, driver or controller path has failed.
Start by checking whether touch fails everywhere or only inside one app. If Windows does not detect touch input at all, Device Manager, drivers and hardware connection become relevant. If the screen is cracked, the digitiser may be damaged even when the display still works.
Physical damage matters
Drops, pressure marks, hinge damage and liquid exposure can all affect touch. Some touchscreens are bonded assemblies where the touch layer and display are replaced together; others vary by model.
Do not press harder to make touch work. Extra pressure can worsen cracks or cable issues.
Model accuracy is important
Touch and non-touch screens may use different parts. The exact model and screen resolution can matter before repair decisions.
