USB Devices Not Detected: Port, Driver, Power or Device Fault?
When USB devices stop being detected, the problem can be anywhere in the chain. The device may be faulty, the cable may be charge-only, the hub may lack power, the port may be damaged, or Windows may have driver and power management issues.
Test one device at a time. Try a simple wired mouse or keyboard directly in the computer, not through a hub. If one port fails but others work, physical port damage or board path issues may be involved.
External drives need extra caution
If the USB device is a storage drive and it disconnects, clicks, freezes Windows or asks to be formatted, treat it as a data risk. Do not keep testing with important files on the drive.
USB-C ports can add complexity because the same connector may handle charging, display, data and docks.
Recent events help diagnosis
Liquid exposure, impact, Windows updates, new hubs, power surges or forced cable angles all matter.
