Webcam privacy covers are common, but on thin laptops a thick cover can create pressure between the keyboard deck and screen when the lid closes. Over time or during travel, that pressure can contribute to marks, cracks or display damage.

Many modern laptops have very small clearance when closed. Even a small raised accessory can press into the panel. This is especially risky if the laptop is placed in a tight bag or has other pressure on the lid.

Safer habits

If you use a cover, choose a very thin one designed for the laptop, and check whether the lid closes without pressure. Built-in shutters or software privacy settings may be better where available. Avoid placing hard objects inside the laptop before closing it.

If the screen shows pressure marks, lines or cracks near the camera area, mention any cover or recent travel during repair diagnosis.
