Correct a Stale Chrome Autofill Address Before It Reaches a Form
An old address can return because the browser, the website account or both have stored it. Before correcting the same form repeatedly, identify when the address appears. Does it arrive after choosing a Chrome suggestion, or is it already filled when the website loads?
Inspect the browser record
Check the Chrome profile and account first, particularly on a computer used for both home and business tasks. Open Passwords and autofill and select the relevant contact or address category. Find the stale entry and inspect its name, address lines, postcode, country and contact details.
Edit the intended record or remove an obsolete duplicate. Keep distinct valid addresses recognisable so that the delivery location is not confused with a billing or office address. Do not change unrelated saved categories merely to tidy the list.
Google says edits made while signed into Chrome also appear on other devices using the same account. Consider that scope before replacing a shared working address. The browser’s saving behaviour also depends on the account and related settings shown in the current interface.
Test the fields before submission
Return to a harmless blank form or the original form before its final submission. Choose the corrected suggestion and inspect every populated field. A correct saved record can still map awkwardly to a website’s field layout, especially where unit, suburb and city are separate.
Check any remaining old text by clearing the field and typing the intended value manually. If the address reappears when the website reloads without choosing a browser suggestion, inspect that service’s own address book or profile. Editing Chrome does not necessarily update the website’s records.
Stop the test before placing an order or sending a form. Completion means the intended address populates the correct fields and you know which store of information supplies it. Keep checking the final page during real use; autofill reduces typing but does not verify that the recipient and destination suit the current task.
