High-Refresh Gaming Monitor: Panel edge-bond failure | Auckland
Pattern to record: Fixed lines or a section changes with temperature or slight housing flex.
Separate the panel from the source
Record resolution, refresh rate, colour mode and whether variable refresh is enabled. These determine link demand. Backlight and LCD edge-bond checks below apply only to LCD models, not to an OLED display. A bonded driver connection at the LCD edge has lost stable contact; this particular explanation requires a compatible LCD panel design and does not establish a fault in an OLED model.
Display-path checks
- Compare native and lower refresh rates, different certified cables and another graphics source.
- Observe the fault without pressing the panel and exclude input and T-CON causes.
Handling and electrical safety
Stop testing if the monitor emits a burning smell or flashes from its power section. Pressing or wedging the edge can crack the glass.
Image and input verification
If the checks support this cause, replace the panel when the bonded connection is confirmed unserviceable. Verification should cover native refresh, lower refresh, variable refresh, colour, sleep and sustained gaming.
