Check a Portal’s Batch Download Before Assuming Every File Arrived
A multi-file export can appear successful when only its first document reaches the computer. Before rerunning the whole job, list what the portal says it should produce. Record the selected date range, number of items and whether the service promises separate files or one archive.
Separate permission from delivery
Open Chrome’s Downloads list and compare it with that expectation. A completed first file, a blocked permission prompt and a failed network transfer are different observations. Keep the exact message; do not label every missing file a download-blocking problem.
Chrome has an Automatic downloads permission for sites delivering related files together. Google places it under Settings, Privacy and security, Site settings, Additional permissions. Review the relevant site’s permission rather than allowing every site to download multiple files automatically.
Confirm that you are on the legitimate export portal and that you intended the batch. If the work browser is managed or the export includes information you are not authorised to copy, ask the responsible administrator to resolve that boundary before proceeding.
Retry a small, identifiable set
Choose a small harmless export if the portal permits one. Note the destination folder, start the export once and wait for the download entries to finish. If the portal lacks a test range, preserve the first download and avoid repeatedly launching an indistinguishable full batch.
Compare the resulting filenames and count with the requested set. Open representative files to check the reporting period and content type; several files with similar names may be repeats of one report. Record any item that remains missing or failed.
Do not treat a Chrome history entry as the only copy of the evidence. Google notes that removing an item from the Downloads list does not delete the file from the computer. Keep the actual completed files in their intended location and remove an unneeded site allowance once the export is settled.
