Desktop LED Monitor: Open backlight LED string | Auckland
Pattern to record: A faint image is visible with a torch while normal illumination is absent.
Separate the panel from the source
This guide concerns an LCD monitor with LED illumination. Compare the monitor’s own on-screen menu with an external image; a defect visible on the menu is different from a problem limited to one cable or source. One possible explanation is that one LED or connection has interrupted current through a backlight section.
Display-path checks
- Test another source and cable, open the on-screen menu and separate panel, backlight and input faults.
- Confirm video is present and test backlight drive under controlled conditions.
Handling and electrical safety
Monitor power boards can contain hazardous voltage and retained charge. Backlight circuits can generate high voltage even in an LED monitor.
Image and input verification
If the checks support this cause, replace the failed backlight assembly or matched panel component. Verification should cover all inputs, native resolution, brightness range, sleep wake and extended display.
