Desktop LED Monitor: Monitor thermal shutdown | Auckland
Pattern to record: The display works from cold and turns off after a repeatable period.
Separate the panel from the source
This guide concerns an LCD monitor with LED illumination. Compare the monitor’s own on-screen menu with an external image; a defect visible on the menu is different from a problem limited to one cable or source. One possible explanation is that a component or blocked airflow reaches its protection temperature.
Display-path checks
- Test another source and cable, open the on-screen menu and separate panel, backlight and input faults.
- Record temperature and operating time at controlled brightness.
Handling and electrical safety
Monitor power boards can contain hazardous voltage and retained charge. Covering vents for testing can create further damage.
Image and input verification
If the checks support this cause, repair cooling, the heat-sensitive component or its supply stage. Verification should cover all inputs, native resolution, brightness range, sleep wake and extended display.
