Docking Station Ethernet System: Incorrect network configuration | Auckland
Pattern to record: Physical link is healthy but required services remain unreachable.
Separate the adapter from the network
Dock Ethernet shares the dock’s host connection and power arrangement. Compare network-only use with displays and storage active, then distinguish a disappearing USB device from a live adapter with no Ethernet link. One possible explanation is that VLAN, address, gateway or security settings do not match the connected network.
Link and configuration checks
- Separate dock firmware, host USB-C link, power and the network side using controlled comparisons.
- Compare approved settings and test local gateway access before internet troubleshooting.
Before internal work
Use the dock's correct power supply during diagnosis. Resetting managed settings can disconnect business systems.
Verify the network path
If the checks support this cause, restore the correct authorised network configuration. Verification should cover link speed, displays plus network load, sleep, undock, redock and restart.
