USB-C Docking Monitor: Damaged video input port | Auckland
Pattern to record: One input fails or reacts when the plug is moved.
Separate the panel from the source
Test video, USB data and laptop charging separately on a USB-C monitor. Success in one function does not prove that the same cable, host port and monitor can support the others. One possible explanation is that connector pins or board joints no longer carry stable high-speed data.
Display-path checks
- Test every function with a known full-featured cable and compare other inputs.
- Compare inputs and inspect the connector and protection devices.
Handling and electrical safety
Not every USB-C cable carries video or the monitor's full charging power. A heavy cable can tear new joints unless strain is relieved.
Image and input verification
If the checks support this cause, replace the damaged port or repair its board connection. Verification should cover video, USB, charging, Ethernet if fitted, sleep and cable reconnection.
