Inkjet Printer Paper Feed System: Worn exit roller | Auckland
Pattern to record: Printing completes but pages stall, wrinkle or remain partly inside.
Locate the feed stage
Compare plain paper with the specific photo or speciality media supported by the inkjet. Note whether skew begins at pickup or only under the carriage, and keep fingers clear of the moving printhead. One possible explanation is that the final roller cannot grip or release media consistently.
Before inspecting the mechanism
Turn off and disconnect the printer before hands-on checks. Keep clear of the carriage, printhead and roller pinch points; follow the model’s access instructions and do not force a jammed page or carriage.
Feed-path checks
- Inspect accessible guides and pickup surfaces with the mechanism unpowered. Use the model’s service procedure for any roller or encoder inspection beyond normal user access.
- A technician can check exit-roller condition and mechanical freedom with power isolated after excluding an upstream obstruction. Do not reach into powered transport rollers.
Correct the confirmed cause
If the checks support this cause, replace the worn roller or bushing assembly. After clearing or repairing the fault and refitting access covers, verification should cover plain paper, photo media if supported, alignment, multi-page feed and exit.
