Desktop Label Printer Media Path: Worn exit roller | Auckland
Pattern to record: Printing completes but pages stall, wrinkle or remain partly inside.
Locate the feed stage
Labels must match the printer’s gap, black-mark or continuous-media sensing mode. Record stock width, liner and roll orientation before calibration; label adhesive can contaminate the platen and sensor path. An exit-transport fault is one possibility; first confirm whether this model has a separate exit roller, peel assembly or only a platen with an optional cutter.
Before inspecting the mechanism
Power off and disconnect the printer before inspecting or cleaning the label path. Let the thermal printhead cool and use only the access areas and cleaning method allowed by the model’s manual. Keep fingers and tools away from any fitted cutter and leave internal drive mechanisms to a technician.
Feed-path checks
- Record the label stock and sensing mode, then inspect accessible guides, platen and sensors with power isolated. Do not run calibration or feed more labels into a known obstruction.
- A technician should identify whether the exit uses a separate roller, peel assembly or only a platen and optional cutter. Check mechanical condition under the model’s unpowered service procedure after ruling out trapped liner or an upstream jam.
Correct the confirmed cause
If inspection confirms wear and the model has a serviceable exit roller or bushing assembly, a technician can replace the specified part. For a design with only a platen, peel unit or cutter at the exit, diagnose that actual assembly rather than assume a separate exit roller exists. After the fault is corrected and covers are refitted, verification should cover single and batch labels, gap detection, calibration, the peel function if fitted and a clean exit.
