Inspect a Screen Time App Limit in macOS Tahoe 26 Before Changing It
A Screen Time limit can include a whole application category, so an app may be affected even when you do not remember selecting it individually. Inspect the existing rule before assuming the application is broken or deleting several limits.
These steps use the App Limits interface in macOS Tahoe 26. They are for your own Screen Time settings or limits you are authorised to manage as a parent or guardian. If another person manages the restriction, ask them to review it rather than attempting to bypass their controls.
Find the rule that includes the app
Open System Settings, Screen Time and check the selected family member where that menu is available. Open App Limits and inspect the relevant entry. Apple allows limits to include individual applications, categories, websites or all apps and categories.
Use Edit and Edit Apps to review the selection. Expand a category to see which applications it contains. Also check whether the time allowance is the same every day or uses a custom weekly schedule, and whether Block at end of limit is selected.
Write down the actual scope before changing it. A rule named Evening use may affect more applications than its name suggests. The selection and schedule are the useful evidence.
Compare the right usage view
In App & Website Activity, check the date and the Device selection. Apple provides individual-device statistics and an All Devices view when Screen Time is set up across multiple devices. Keep that scope in the note alongside the observed limit message.
If a change is appropriate, adjust the specific rule and test the intended application at the relevant time. Confirm that other applications meant to remain limited still follow the agreed arrangement.
Apple lets you temporarily turn a limit off while retaining its configuration; removing it deletes the rule. Choose deliberately if you expect to reuse the schedule.
If the app remains unavailable without a matching Screen Time indication, record the exact message and investigate that separate behaviour. A time-limit review does not diagnose a damaged installation. The finished result should identify who the rule applies to, what it includes and the schedule that explains the observed restriction.
