Use the correct Mac power design

Use the exact Apple-silicon MacBook Air model to identify its charging ports and supported adapter. A black display alone does not prove the Mac is unpowered; check for other startup signs before pursuing the input circuit. One possible explanation is that the connected adapter cannot provide the voltage or power profile expected by the Mac.

Power and data precautions

Mac batteries and logic boards must be isolated with model-appropriate procedures. Plug shape alone does not prove wattage or protocol compatibility.

Model-specific checks

1. Verify the correct charger, inspect all ports and separate display absence from true no-power behaviour.
2. Compare charger identity, cable rating and negotiated input on every supported port.

Repair and startup verification

If the checks support this cause, replace the incompatible or failed adapter or cable after the Mac-side path is confirmed. Verification should cover cold start, charging on each supported port, battery operation, sleep, wake and restart.
