Use the correct Mac power design

Use the exact Apple-silicon MacBook Air model to identify its charging ports and supported adapter. A black display alone does not prove the Mac is unpowered; check for other startup signs before pursuing the input circuit. One possible explanation is that packed debris or conductive residue prevents reliable contact.

Power and data precautions

Mac batteries and logic boards must be isolated with model-appropriate procedures. Liquid cleaner left in a live port can create further damage.

Model-specific checks

1. Verify the correct charger, inspect all ports and separate display absence from true no-power behaviour.
2. Inspect the port without metal probes and compare a clean known-good cable.

Repair and startup verification

If the checks support this cause, clean safely or replace the damaged port assembly and verify every contact. Verification should cover cold start, charging on each supported port, battery operation, sleep, wake and restart.
