Resize Product Photos Without Cropping Away the Item
A website may request an image within a particular width and height. That does not always mean the photograph should be forced into exactly that shape. When the whole product must remain visible, the resize method matters as much as the numbers entered.
Create a separate delivery folder containing copies of the original photographs. Keep the camera originals available for future edits. Select one portrait and one landscape example in File Explorer, then open Resize with Image Resizer when the PowerToys extension is enabled.
Choose the result you actually need
Microsoft distinguishes three behaviours. Fit keeps the proportions and places the image within the requested boundary without cropping. Fill preserves proportions but can crop the image to fill that boundary. Stretch changes proportions to meet the dimensions, which can make a circular part look oval.
For a whole-item catalogue photograph, start with Fit. If the destination requires an exact square canvas, check whether it accepts margins around the photograph; cropping and adding a canvas solve different problems. Review the Ignore orientation setting as well, since it can change how width and height are interpreted for portrait pictures.
Inspect the generated files
Open the two resized examples and check the actual pixel dimensions. Look at the product edges, labels and any ruler included in the photograph. Confirm the files are distinguishable from the originals by name or location before processing the remainder.
Upload a sample to the intended draft page and inspect its displayed crop. A website can crop an otherwise complete image again, so successful resizing alone does not establish the final appearance. Keep the delivery folder limited to files approved for that use.
Do not treat Image Resizer's fallback encoding setting as a general format converter. Microsoft describes it as the format used when the original format cannot be saved. If a particular delivery format is required, verify the actual output type separately before sending the batch.
