Choose a Reminder’s Arrival or Departure Boundary Instead of Only an Address
“Remember the folder at the office” is ambiguous: should the reminder appear when you arrive, or when you leave without it? The address identifies a place, but the direction of crossing its boundary determines which moment the reminder is meant to support.
Use one harmless practice reminder and describe its intended trigger in a full sentence before editing. For example, “Remind me when I leave the chosen office area.” Use updated iCloud reminders for the documented feature set and confirm the account used on the device you expect to carry.
Inspect the boundary as well as the address
Apple documents opening a reminder’s Edit Details, turning on Location and selecting the intended place. Choose Leaving or Arriving where available. Drag the large blue dot on the map circle to adjust how far from that location the boundary sits.
Location Services must be enabled on devices used for these notifications. Apple also explains that a reminder with both time and location notifications alerts at whichever condition occurs first. Until completion, location reminders can notify again when you arrive or leave. Those behaviours matter when interpreting an apparently early or repeated alert.
Check the chosen map location against the actual intended building or area. A business with several branches can have a recognisable name while pointing to the wrong place. Inspect the circle’s relationship to nearby streets rather than treating the address text as the entire configuration.
Choose a useful trigger, then observe it honestly
A larger boundary may be crossed farther from the building than a smaller one. Choose the radius according to the practical task, and avoid writing a requirement that assumes an exact doorway crossing. Keep the direction and radius unchanged during an initial harmless observation so the result can be interpreted.
If a time condition is also enabled, record it. An alert at that time need not mean the location rule fired. Likewise, a later repeated alert should be considered alongside the reminder’s unfinished state instead of being dismissed as a duplicate without investigation.
When testing in normal use, record the receiving device, selected account, intended boundary and actual observation. Do not report a setting screen as proof that a field notification arrived. If the outcome is unsuitable, change one condition and observe again. The final configuration should express when the reminder is useful, not simply display a plausible address beside the task.
