Set Webcam Focus for a Desk Demonstration and Recheck It Afterwards
A webcam used for a face-to-face call may repeatedly refocus when you hold a small object near it. A desk demonstration works better when you choose a stable distance and verify the exact detail that the audience needs to see.
Define the demonstration view
Place a harmless sample object at the intended position and secure the camera so it will not move during the task. Provide enough light to see the detail without glare. Check the model's focus capability; a fixed-focus camera cannot acquire a manual focus slider merely by installing another app.
Logitech's BRIO 505 guidance suggests retriggering autofocus by briefly presenting a hand and then removing it. If automatic adjustment still fails, the documented Logi Tune route allows autofocus to be turned off and focus adjusted manually.
Use that procedure only where supported by the camera. Adjust focus while viewing the smallest necessary lettering or feature on the sample, and keep its distance from the lens consistent. Moving the object closer after setting focus changes the test.
Check the audience's useful detail
Make a short local recording of the movement you plan to demonstrate. Review it at the size the audience is likely to see. The image should stay readable during the relevant action, not only in a paused setup pose.
Do not rely on digital zoom to create detail the camera has not captured. Logitech specifically notes that BRIO 505's digital zoom can reduce apparent sharpness as it increases. Compare framing and camera placement before simply maximising zoom.
If the required detail still cannot be shown clearly, use a suitable close-up capture method or share a prepared image alongside the demonstration. Keep sensitive serial numbers or documents out of the frame unless they are needed and authorised for the audience.
After the demonstration, restore autofocus or your normal calling preset if appropriate. Verify your face at the usual seating distance. A manual setting that was correct for an object on the desk can leave the next ordinary meeting unexpectedly blurry.
