Ultrawide Computer Monitor: Open backlight LED string | Auckland
Pattern to record: A faint image is visible with a torch while normal illumination is absent.
Separate the panel from the source
Use the panel’s native resolution and supported input timings when comparing sources. A wide image can exceed a cable or adapter’s capability even when a lower-resolution desktop appears stable. One LED or connection has interrupted current through a backlight section; this particular explanation requires a compatible LCD panel design and does not establish a fault in an OLED model.
Display-path checks
- Verify native timing, input bandwidth and panel behaviour with the on-screen menu.
- Confirm video is present and test backlight drive under controlled conditions.
Handling and electrical safety
A large curved or ultrawide panel must be supported evenly when handled. Backlight circuits can generate high voltage even in an LED monitor.
Image and input verification
If the checks support this cause, replace the failed backlight assembly or matched panel component. Verification should cover native resolution, multiple inputs, brightness uniformity, sleep and extended use.
For an assessment of your ultrawide monitor, contact AEPC in Burswood or call 027 908 8880. Provide the model and the conditions that reproduce this problem. Workshop visits are by appointment.
