Ultrawide Computer Monitor: Backlight driver fault | Auckland
Pattern to record: Brightness pulses or shuts down while the image signal remains present.
Separate the panel from the source
Use the panel’s native resolution and supported input timings when comparing sources. A wide image can exceed a cable or adapter’s capability even when a lower-resolution desktop appears stable. The power stage cannot regulate current for the panel illumination; this particular explanation requires a compatible LCD panel design and does not establish a fault in an OLED model.
Display-path checks
- Verify native timing, input bandwidth and panel behaviour with the on-screen menu.
- Compare brightness commands, driver output and LED load behaviour.
Handling and electrical safety
A large curved or ultrawide panel must be supported evenly when handled. Bypassing protection can overheat the panel lighting.
Image and input verification
If the checks support this cause, repair the failed driver stage after excluding a shorted LED load. Verification should cover native resolution, multiple inputs, brightness uniformity, sleep and extended use.
