USB Webcam System: Device firmware compatibility fault | Auckland
Pattern to record: Controls or capture fail after an update while basic detection remains.
Trace video, input and output separately
Identify the USB webcam selected in the call application and test video separately from any built-in microphone. Bluetooth headset audio is a different path and does not explain USB camera capture failure by itself. One possible explanation is that the accessory firmware and host driver disagree on supported functions.
Compare the failing connection
- Compare another USB port and application, check privacy permission and test sustained capture.
- Compare firmware, host version and another known host before updating.
Before changing the setup
Disconnect any cable with crushed insulation or an overheating camera. Interrupting accessory firmware updates can brick the device.
Restore the intended function
If the checks support this cause, install the exact supported firmware or roll back through an approved process. Verification should cover video, microphone if fitted, multiple applications, sleep and a sustained call.
