USB Webcam System: Privacy permission block | Auckland
Pattern to record: Hardware works in one approved application but not another.
Trace video, input and output separately
Identify the USB webcam selected in the call application and test video separately from any built-in microphone. Bluetooth headset audio is a different path and does not explain USB camera capture failure by itself. One possible explanation is that the operating system denies an application access to camera or microphone data.
Compare the failing connection
- Compare another USB port and application, check privacy permission and test sustained capture.
- Review per-application permissions and recent system changes.
Before changing the setup
Disconnect any cable with crushed insulation or an overheating camera. Disabling security controls globally exposes private devices.
Restore the intended function
If the checks support this cause, grant only the intended application permission or repair its registration. Verification should cover video, microphone if fitted, multiple applications, sleep and a sustained call.
