Add an AirPrint Printer to a Mac and Verify the Right Output
For a compatible printer, AirPrint can provide Mac printing without an extra application or driver package. First confirm the exact printer and connection so you do not create several confusing queues for the same device.
Prepare and identify the printer
Make sure the printer is powered, has suitable paper and is not displaying a physical error. Use the printer manufacturer's instructions to connect it to the same Wi-Fi network as the Mac. A guest network or managed office network may need administrator help to make the intended devices reachable.
Open a harmless document and choose File, Print. Check whether the printer already appears. If it does not, open System Settings, Printers & Scanners and use Add Printer, Scanner or Fax to select the correct device.
Confirm its name and model rather than choosing the first nearby printer. Apple's guide recommends manufacturer-provided software when a model does not support AirPrint. Obtain that software from the manufacturer, not from an unrelated download advertisement.
Test the output you actually need
Print a small test page containing text and a simple graphic. Check the selected paper size, orientation, page count and whether colour or double-sided options match your intended job. Do not use private customer material as the initial test in an unfamiliar shared printer environment.
If a needed feature is missing, consult the printer's Mac documentation. Apple notes that some generic network protocols provide limited features; a successful basic print does not prove every finishing or scanning function is available.
Inspect the print queue and physical output before submitting a large batch. Repeatedly clicking Print while a job is delayed can produce duplicate copies later.
Once the setup works, give the queue a recognisable name if several printers are present. Record the model and successful connection method so future troubleshooting starts from a known arrangement instead of another full reinstall.
