No Internet After a Windows Update? Start With Device-Side Checks
After a Windows update, a computer may suddenly show no internet even though other devices work. The cause may be a network driver, disabled adapter, VPN conflict, DNS setting, firewall rule or a Windows network profile change.
First compare devices. If phones and other computers are online, the router may be fine. Test whether the problem happens on both Wi-Fi and Ethernet if possible.
Drivers and adapters
Open network settings and check whether the adapter is present. If Wi-Fi disappeared completely, the wireless module or driver may be involved. If it sees networks but cannot connect, password, profile or security settings may be the issue.
Avoid installing driver utilities from unknown sites. Wrong drivers can create more problems.
Business computers
VPN and security software can affect network access after updates. Do not remove business security tools without understanding the setup.
