Bluetooth Headset Connection: Headset battery, radio or USB adapter power?
Pattern to record: The USB adapter disappears from the computer at the same time the wireless audio disconnects.
Trace video, input and output separately
Record whether the headset uses the computer’s Bluetooth radio or a dedicated USB adapter. Compare media playback with microphone-active calls, since the active audio mode and available quality can differ. A USB Bluetooth radio or dedicated headset adapter can stop when its host connection loses power; the headset’s own battery is a separate supply.
Compare the failing connection
- Compare headset profiles, another host, interference and driver state.
- Compare adapter detection on a known supported direct USB port, check the headset’s charge separately and record whether the adapter actually disconnects.
Before changing the setup
Do not reset workplace-managed devices before recording pairing information. Do not replace a charging lead as an audio-data repair unless the model actually supports audio over that lead.
Restore the intended function
If the checks support this cause, correct the confirmed host-port, hub or adapter fault; investigate radio or headset behaviour if USB detection remains stable. Verification should cover media audio, call audio, microphone, range, sleep and reconnection.
For an assessment of your computer and Bluetooth headset, contact AEPC in Burswood or call 027 908 8880. Provide the model and the conditions that reproduce this problem. Workshop visits are by appointment.
