Desktop LED Monitor: Damaged video input port | Auckland
Pattern to record: One input fails or reacts when the plug is moved.
Separate the panel from the source
This guide concerns an LCD monitor with LED illumination. Compare the monitor’s own on-screen menu with an external image; a defect visible on the menu is different from a problem limited to one cable or source. One possible explanation is that connector pins or board joints no longer carry stable high-speed data.
Display-path checks
- Test another source and cable, open the on-screen menu and separate panel, backlight and input faults.
- Compare inputs and inspect the connector and protection devices.
Handling and electrical safety
Monitor power boards can contain hazardous voltage and retained charge. A heavy cable can tear new joints unless strain is relieved.
Image and input verification
If the checks support this cause, replace the damaged port or repair its board connection. Verification should cover all inputs, native resolution, brightness range, sleep wake and extended display.
