Desktop LED Monitor: EDID communication fault | Auckland
Pattern to record: Resolution options are wrong or detection repeatedly fails.
Separate the panel from the source
This guide concerns an LCD monitor with LED illumination. Compare the monitor’s own on-screen menu with an external image; a defect visible on the menu is different from a problem limited to one cable or source. One possible explanation is that the source cannot read the monitor's supported modes correctly.
Display-path checks
- Test another source and cable, open the on-screen menu and separate panel, backlight and input faults.
- Read identification data through multiple known inputs and sources.
Handling and electrical safety
Monitor power boards can contain hazardous voltage and retained charge. Forcing unsupported timings can obscure the original fault.
Image and input verification
If the checks support this cause, repair the communication line or restore correct monitor firmware data. Verification should cover all inputs, native resolution, brightness range, sleep wake and extended display.
