High-Refresh Gaming Monitor: Damaged video input port | Auckland
Pattern to record: One input fails or reacts when the plug is moved.
Separate the panel from the source
Record resolution, refresh rate, colour mode and whether variable refresh is enabled. These determine link demand. Backlight and LCD edge-bond checks below apply only to LCD models, not to an OLED display. One possible explanation is that connector pins or board joints no longer carry stable high-speed data.
Display-path checks
- Compare native and lower refresh rates, different certified cables and another graphics source.
- Compare inputs and inspect the connector and protection devices.
Handling and electrical safety
Stop testing if the monitor emits a burning smell or flashes from its power section. A heavy cable can tear new joints unless strain is relieved.
Image and input verification
If the checks support this cause, replace the damaged port or repair its board connection. Verification should cover native refresh, lower refresh, variable refresh, colour, sleep and sustained gaming.
