High-Refresh Gaming Monitor: EDID communication fault | Auckland
Pattern to record: Resolution options are wrong or detection repeatedly fails.
Separate the panel from the source
Record resolution, refresh rate, colour mode and whether variable refresh is enabled. These determine link demand. Backlight and LCD edge-bond checks below apply only to LCD models, not to an OLED display. One possible explanation is that the source cannot read the monitor's supported modes correctly.
Display-path checks
- Compare native and lower refresh rates, different certified cables and another graphics source.
- Read identification data through multiple known inputs and sources.
Handling and electrical safety
Stop testing if the monitor emits a burning smell or flashes from its power section. Forcing unsupported timings can obscure the original fault.
Image and input verification
If the checks support this cause, repair the communication line or restore correct monitor firmware data. Verification should cover native refresh, lower refresh, variable refresh, colour, sleep and sustained gaming.
