High-Refresh Gaming Monitor: Panel timing controller fault | Auckland
Pattern to record: Half-screen, fixed lines or washed colours remain over the monitor's own menu.
Separate the panel from the source
Record resolution, refresh rate, colour mode and whether variable refresh is enabled. These determine link demand. Backlight and LCD edge-bond checks below apply only to LCD models, not to an OLED display. The circuit distributing pixel timing is unstable or unpowered; this particular explanation requires a compatible LCD panel design and does not establish a fault in an OLED model.
Display-path checks
- Compare native and lower refresh rates, different certified cables and another graphics source.
- Compare internal menu behaviour and measure local panel supplies.
Handling and electrical safety
Stop testing if the monitor emits a burning smell or flashes from its power section. Panel ribbons are fragile and should not be handled live.
Image and input verification
If the checks support this cause, repair the T-CON supply or replace the confirmed panel-level assembly. Verification should cover native refresh, lower refresh, variable refresh, colour, sleep and sustained gaming.
