Gaming PC UEFI Configuration: TPM state conflict | Auckland
Pattern to record: A recovery-key prompt follows a firmware or hardware change.
Record the boot configuration
Separate a stock configuration from memory profiles, CPU tuning and GPU changes. A boot fault that began after tuning should first be reproduced at supported defaults, without increasing voltage to make POST succeed. One possible explanation is that stored platform measurements no longer match encryption or security expectations.
Preserve recovery options
Unstable overclocking can corrupt data and should not be used during diagnosis. Clearing the TPM without keys can lock away encrypted data.
Firmware and hardware checks
- Return to documented baseline settings and test one hardware group at a time.
- Confirm recovery credentials and review the precise change before resetting anything.
Recovery and startup checks
If the checks support this cause, restore the intended firmware state or re-enrol security using authorised credentials. Verification should cover repeated cold boots, memory load, graphics initialisation, restart and sleep.
