Gaming PC UEFI Configuration: Secure Boot key mismatch | Auckland
Pattern to record: The firmware rejects a previously bootable system after an update or board change.
Record the boot configuration
Separate a stock configuration from memory profiles, CPU tuning and GPU changes. A boot fault that began after tuning should first be reproduced at supported defaults, without increasing voltage to make POST succeed. One possible explanation is that trusted keys and the installed loader no longer agree.
Preserve recovery options
Unstable overclocking can corrupt data and should not be used during diagnosis. Clearing keys without approval can break managed security and encryption.
Firmware and hardware checks
- Return to documented baseline settings and test one hardware group at a time.
- Record key state and verify the operating-system loader and organisational policy.
Recovery and startup checks
If the checks support this cause, restore approved keys or repair the signed boot chain. Verification should cover repeated cold boots, memory load, graphics initialisation, restart and sleep.
