Gaming PC UEFI Configuration: Incorrect boot mode | Auckland
Pattern to record: The drive is detected but no valid boot option is offered.
Record the boot configuration
Separate a stock configuration from memory profiles, CPU tuning and GPU changes. A boot fault that began after tuning should first be reproduced at supported defaults, without increasing voltage to make POST succeed. One possible explanation is that legacy and UEFI expectations do not match the installed operating system.
Preserve recovery options
Unstable overclocking can corrupt data and should not be used during diagnosis. Changing disk layout before backup can make recovery harder.
Firmware and hardware checks
- Return to documented baseline settings and test one hardware group at a time.
- Compare partition style, boot files and current firmware mode without converting the disk.
Recovery and startup checks
If the checks support this cause, restore the correct boot mode or repair the matching boot files. Verification should cover repeated cold boots, memory load, graphics initialisation, restart and sleep.
