Pattern to record: The Mac appears dead after sleep but behaves differently after all power states are cleared.
Use the correct Mac power design
MacBook Pro charging requirements vary by model and workload. Compare the supported adapter and cable with the installed configuration, and note whether the problem is confined to one charging port or appears on every supported path. One possible explanation is that a controller or peripheral state prevents a complete wake or fresh startup.
Power and data precautions
Stop high-load testing if the charger connection or board area becomes unusually hot. Repeated forced shutdowns can corrupt open files.
Model-specific checks
- Compare supported ports, charger profiles, battery condition and board current behaviour.
- Compare true shutdown, sleep, external display and peripheral-free startup.
Repair and startup verification
If the checks support this cause, repair the firmware, peripheral or board condition that repeatedly traps the state. Verification should cover all charging ports, full-power operation, battery transition, sleep and shutdown.
