Ultrawide Computer Monitor: Panel edge-bond failure | Auckland
Pattern to record: Fixed lines or a section changes with temperature or slight housing flex.
Separate the panel from the source
Use the panel’s native resolution and supported input timings when comparing sources. A wide image can exceed a cable or adapter’s capability even when a lower-resolution desktop appears stable. A bonded driver connection at the LCD edge has lost stable contact; this particular explanation requires a compatible LCD panel design and does not establish a fault in an OLED model.
Display-path checks
- Verify native timing, input bandwidth and panel behaviour with the on-screen menu.
- Observe the fault without pressing the panel and exclude input and T-CON causes.
Handling and electrical safety
A large curved or ultrawide panel must be supported evenly when handled. Pressing or wedging the edge can crack the glass.
Image and input verification
If the checks support this cause, replace the panel when the bonded connection is confirmed unserviceable. Verification should cover native resolution, multiple inputs, brightness uniformity, sleep and extended use.
For an assessment of your ultrawide monitor, contact AEPC in Burswood or call 027 908 8880. Provide the model and the conditions that reproduce this problem. Workshop visits are by appointment.
