Ultrawide Computer Monitor: Power-supply capacitor deterioration | Auckland
Pattern to record: Startup is delayed, brightness pulses or the display improves after warming.
Separate the panel from the source
Use the panel’s native resolution and supported input timings when comparing sources. A wide image can exceed a cable or adapter’s capability even when a lower-resolution desktop appears stable. One possible explanation is that aged capacitors no longer smooth the monitor's internal supply rails.
Display-path checks
- Verify native timing, input bandwidth and panel behaviour with the on-screen menu.
- Measure ripple and startup behaviour with safe isolation procedures.
Handling and electrical safety
A large curved or ultrawide panel must be supported evenly when handled. Mains capacitors can retain dangerous charge after unplugging.
Image and input verification
If the checks support this cause, replace the failed rated components and inspect heat-stressed areas. Verification should cover native resolution, multiple inputs, brightness uniformity, sleep and extended use.
For an assessment of your ultrawide monitor, contact AEPC in Burswood or call 027 908 8880. Provide the model and the conditions that reproduce this problem. Workshop visits are by appointment.
