Ultrawide Computer Monitor: EDID communication fault | Auckland
Pattern to record: Resolution options are wrong or detection repeatedly fails.
Separate the panel from the source
Use the panel’s native resolution and supported input timings when comparing sources. A wide image can exceed a cable or adapter’s capability even when a lower-resolution desktop appears stable. One possible explanation is that the source cannot read the monitor's supported modes correctly.
Display-path checks
- Verify native timing, input bandwidth and panel behaviour with the on-screen menu.
- Read identification data through multiple known inputs and sources.
Handling and electrical safety
A large curved or ultrawide panel must be supported evenly when handled. Forcing unsupported timings can obscure the original fault.
Image and input verification
If the checks support this cause, repair the communication line or restore correct monitor firmware data. Verification should cover native resolution, multiple inputs, brightness uniformity, sleep and extended use.
For an assessment of your ultrawide monitor, contact AEPC in Burswood or call 027 908 8880. Provide the model and the conditions that reproduce this problem. Workshop visits are by appointment.
