Check Whether Windows Can Keep Bluetooth Stereo Playing While the Microphone Is Active
Hearing stereo music before a call does not establish that the same connection can keep stereo playback while its microphone is active. Check the specific LE Audio capability instead of judging it from the Bluetooth name alone.
Record the PC and headset models, Windows build and connection method. This task concerns a direct supported Bluetooth LE Audio connection. A separate USB headset receiver may follow its own audio arrangement.
Confirm the capability at both ends
Microsoft warns that ordinary Bluetooth LE support does not necessarily include LE Audio. In Settings, Bluetooth & devices, Devices, inspect Use LE Audio when available. If that option is absent, the PC currently lacks the required hardware or driver support. Check the accessory manufacturer's LE Audio specification too.
Stereo during microphone use has stricter requirements: Windows 11 24H2 or newer, build 26100.4484 or newer, factory-integrated Bluetooth LE support and the manufacturer's drivers enabling this stereo feature. The headset must also support LE Audio. Do not infer support from the Windows version alone.
With the device paired and connected, open Settings, System, Sound, its Output properties, then expand Format. Look for Format when microphone is active. Microsoft says its absence means the system does not currently support this stereo mode.
Test the mode you intend to use
When available, the control offers Stereo, two channels, or Mono, one channel. Supported systems default to stereo; Microsoft recommends trying mono if the accessory produces glitches during microphone use. The separate Accessibility, Audio mono setting can also prevent the desired stereo experience.
Use harmless playback with clearly different left and right content, then activate the intended headset microphone in a local app test. Confirm which input the app selected; opening a laptop microphone would not test the headset's simultaneous mode.
Listen for both channel separation and interruptions at a comfortable level. Check the recorded microphone separately. If stereo is unreliable, keep the stable supported mode and preserve the exact configuration for the manufacturer. Repeated re-pairing cannot establish a feature that the PC, drivers or headset do not provide.
