Pattern to record: A known charger is detected on some ports but no usable input is established on the affected path.
Use the correct Mac power design
MacBook Pro charging requirements vary by model and workload. Compare the supported adapter and cable with the installed configuration, and note whether the problem is confined to one charging port or appears on every supported path. One possible explanation is that the controller responsible for detecting and accepting external power is not completing negotiation.
Power and data precautions
Stop high-load testing if the charger connection or board area becomes unusually hot. Controller replacement requires correct configuration and microsoldering technique.
Model-specific checks
- Compare supported ports, charger profiles, battery condition and board current behaviour.
- Compare port controller behaviour and protected input rails with board-level references.
Repair and startup verification
If the checks support this cause, replace the confirmed controller or damaged supporting components. Verification should cover all charging ports, full-power operation, battery transition, sleep and shutdown.
